Memory makes up our past and future. So in-order to know who we are as a person, we need to have some idea of who we have been in the past - and, for good or bad, our little life stories & lessons give us pretty good guide to know; how we will respond tomorrow - Against the things or instances which takes us back in time.
That's why I say 'Classical Conditioning' works like magic.
And It's no surprise, then, that there is fascination with this quintessentially human ability. When I cast back to an event from my past – let's recall early days at PIFD; It was my freshmen year when that very horrific incident from past flashed in front of my eyes as every bit of present was felt like the same, even though in reality it was such an ordinary thing we were doing, Nothing but 'Flying Lantern'.
This little thing took me back to our visit of Turkey, It was about 3 years back - we were traveling this country and i was loving every bit of it, Until that day, As I still remember it was a bright sunny day, we had an early morning call for our 'Hot air balloon' ride, for which my brothers were very excited and I was sort of both nervous and excited at the same time.
I still remember not looking above my head for the second time after my sole attempt, as for the first time when i saw that gigantic balloon, That basically blew me off and It was such a fascinating site for a hold back person like me whose life relishes around small things. But I still can't forget the vibe it gave us during those 2 hours up in the air, those lovely mountains and a long strip of greenery all around those big bumps. All I would say is that it was worth doing that.
But you know how that little 'Flying Lantern' horrifies me and sort of confuses me in life ?
On that very day, when our balloon was taking off, There was that unlucky or whatever you want to name it, That balloon took off shaking but as soon as it reached a good meters up in the sky it's equipment stopped working and every single person was left stranded.
Sadly that thing fell like we throw pebbles down the street, and i still remember that fear, that horrific few minutes of life changing minutes of my life.
Fortunately, most of them were saved but two souls had their last time on earth and some had only a few bruises.
That's why during that freshmen year activity, It all flashed in front of my years,
Whether or Not this tiny thing would be able to hold it's shape and venom to cut the air for life, Or It will also fall like that big balloon i remember falling down and taking lives of the people who aboard it to enjoy but ending up having the worst experience of their lives.
That's why they say memories define who we are as a person and how effectively past affects our future.
